Run-flat tyre guidance after pressure loss

A run-flat may allow limited continued travel, but it is not indestructible and does not remove the need for inspection.

Check the handbook and marking

Run-flat systems vary. Permitted distance and speed come from the vehicle and tyre manufacturer, not a universal internet rule.

Stop if control is uncertain

  • Do not continue if the tyre is shredded or off the rim
  • Stop if steering, vibration or stability is poor
  • Do not exceed the specified distance or speed
  • Treat the warning as urgent even if the car feels normal

Repair decisions can be stricter

A run-flat used without pressure may have experienced severe internal stress. Manufacturer policy and full inspection decide whether replacement is required.
